Be Ready to Change

Blog ideas come to me from many places and this one is from Pastor Matthew Ruttan’s July 17th devotional. The photo and its caption captured my attention. It reminded me of the many times I’ve heard this from people…”That’s just the way I am and I can’t change.”

Well, that’s all fine and dandy but what if a change would be for the better as in the case of the caterpillar?

What if you could learn more, do more, be more, have more peace and become aware of your life’s purpose?

I’m not calling myself a butterfly but I’m sure glad God loved me enough to not leave me as I was. Are you ready to be changed? Accept the love that is offered and watch the cocoon of your life take wings.

God loves you as you are. But God loves you too much to leave you as you are.

The Journey to Being a Better Person

Media columnist, John Snobelen spends some of his time every day addressing this constant human challenge, the journey to being a better person, by his own admission. This information was recently sent to me by a friend who likes to share good copy.

The statement intrigues me. How many of us consider this kind of journey on a daily basis and how many even think of it at all?

The Snobelen article was about leadership with grace and I quote: “Some time ago I began to notice there are a few people able to cause change and challenge norms without becoming arrogant. They are those rare leaders who seem capable of valuing people they disagree with, taking responsibility instead of taking bows and making people around them better.”

In what way are we facing our challenge of being a better person? Are we doing all we can to value the people we disagree with or to make people feel better when we know they need uplifting? Are we as helpful as we can be or as thoughtful?

It’s people like John Snobelen who sometimes jolt us awake to the fact that there is always room for improvement.

I have honestly never given any real thought to this aspect of a human challenge and now I can’t wait to begin my new journey to being a better person.

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48 NIV

Now how is that for a challenge?

An Introduction of Sorts

This post is basically for new readers, but of course it’s open to everyone. I’m participating in something on WordPress called Blogging 101 and am to introduce myself and why and what I’m blogging. This is the first assignment.

So here goes. I began blogging on April 5, 2014 to introduce a book I would be publishing in June of that year. After posting a snippet from each of forty chapters of the book, I decided to continue to keep on blogging to see where it would take me.

I love to write, hope to inspire, pray to reach as many people as possible and have met many new people from all over the world.

My blog is called My Precious Life and so is my book, so now I am thinking of renaming the blog so as not to confuse the two.

A new name is on the tip of my pen but has not yet made contact with the page…perhaps soon, and that will be another introduction of sorts.

I’ll keep you posted; pardon the pun.
