Use vs Abuse

A blog a few days ago got me thinking about that word power again.

In itself the word congers up feelings of confidence, helpfulness, caring, independence, and other positive images to help us along life’s path.

The downside is the abuse of power, and we have all experienced that at one time or another.

After all that thinking I came to the conclusion that power is never power until it is used powerfully to help the powerless.

Thanks to Roger Baker-Utah’s blog, Area 52, five days ago that reminded me of my stand on power.

Happy Saturday.

Hold Your Head High

Standing for what you believe in regardless of the odds against you and the pressure that tears at your resistance…is Courage

Keeping a smile on your face for the sake of supporting others when inside you feel like dying…is Strength

Stopping at nothing and doing what’s in your heart that you know is right…is Determination

Doing more than is expected to make another’s life a little more bearable, without uttering a single complaint…is Compassion

Helping a friend in need to the best of your ability, no matter the time or effort…is Loyalty

Holding your head high and being the best you know you can be when life seems to fall apart at your feet, facing each difficulty with the confidence that time will bring you better tomorrows, and never giving up…is Confidence

Hold you head high and make your life better every day.

This was a 2002 Internet message which I had copied into one of my journals, and came across yesterday. It is good to know that what touches our hearts and opens our minds, is good for passing on, no matter how old the message.

Six Little Stories

Don’t you love when something unexpected comes your way? While pondering my next daily blog, this email came my way to save the day. I love when that happens!

“SIX LITTLE STORIES” – well worth the 30 seconds to read!

{1}  Once all villagers decided to pray for rain.  On the day of prayer all the people gathered,  but only one boy came with an umbrella.  That’s FAITH.

{2}  When you throw babies in the air,  they laugh because they know you will catch them.  That’s TRUST.

{3}  Every night we go to bed  without any assurance of being alive the next morning,  but still we set the alarms to wake up.  That’s HOPE.

(4}  We plan big things for tomorrow  in spite of zero knowledge of the future.  That’s CONFIDENCE.

{5}  We see the world suffering,  but still we get married and have children.  That’s LOVE.

{6}  On an old man’s shirt was written a sentence  ‘I am not 82 years old;  I am sweet 16 with 66 years of experience.’  That’s ATTITUDE.
Have a happy day and live your life like the six stories.
When I was a child, I thought nap time was punishment. Now it’s like a mini-vacation.
