The Wise Old Owl

“A wise old owl sat in an oak; the more he saw the less he spoke; the less he spoke the more he heard; why can’t we all be like this wise old bird?” Anonymous.

At this moment and in times to come our world needs a wealth of wisdom.

Owl I ask is that you give a hoot!

Busy Weekend?

Two birthday parties beckon me this weekend…one for an eight-year-old great-granddaughter, and the other for a one-year-old great-grandson. Whatever you are up to, I hope it’s just busy enough to keep you happy and relaxing enough to give you rest. Happy

Fun in a Mailbox

Smiley

Sometimes a chuckle will come out of nowhere just when you need one. I love to laugh but don’t always find something to laugh about. I found the following on an advertisement in my mailbox yesterday.

THE SILENT TREATMENT

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5 a.m. for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, “Please wake me a 5 a.m.”. He left if where he knew she would find it. The next morning the man woke up, only to discover it was 9 a.m. And he missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn’t wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, “It is 5 a.m. Wake up.”

How many wives are having a little “tee hee”? How many husbands are groaning?

…do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Ephesians 4:26

A Love Story

An update: I first posted this love story last year and it was a big hit. Everyone loves a love story, right?  Well, as it so happens, the love has not waned one iota and if anything, is even more poignant. Even though we are both a year older, the age difference is simply not a factor in our relationship. But one thing is a little unsettling, I don’t see him as often as I would like to and now he has another new interest in his life which I will reveal a little later in the story. So here you go…

I have a confession to make. I’m in love with a younger man. At my age you pretty much have to be. You see, I’m seventy-eight years old, and men my age and up are just not interested in older women.

It’s not the first time I’ve been in love, but it is the first time in a long time.

I met my new love just over three years ago. It was love at first sight. Let me tell you about him. First of all he is good to look at..blonde hair, smiling eyes, slim build…a real charmer.

He is so much fun and makes me feel young. He is inquisitive, talkative, and playful. At a recent party he gave me his undivided attention and told me he loved me. My heart melted. Twice, in front of everyone, he leaned into me and hugged me…didn’t matter who was watching.

He loves music and is a top-notch dancer. ..like, he really has the moves. The only problem I have is he is a bit of a lady’s man. Women love him and I’m not too sure that I can handle all the appreciative stares, or the outstretched arms to hug him at every opportunity.

He is physically fit and fancies himself as a hockey player…whereas I haven’t donned a pair of skates in decades.

Sometimes I tell myself I’m too old for love, but when we’re together my heart melts and I am putty in his hands.

I didn’t expect to put my new-found love in the limelight, but there you have it. What more can I say, except I really love this guy!

The new interest is Junior Kindergarten!                             Reid the Hockey Player

Nonsense!

It’s the first day of Spring and I’m feeling frisky. Here’s a bit of nonsense to prove it:

Spring has sprung,

Fall has fell,

Winter’s gone

And it’s just as well!

So there!

Oh Happy Day!

There are people who despair when their birthday rolls around each year. They don’t want to be 40 or 50 or 65, whichever one of the “big” birthdays happens to be theirs in any given year.

Me? I L O V E my birthday every single year. January 6 is my favorite day on the calendar. Why? I always say, “This is the day the Lord has made (for me, I will) rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24) And I always do. Why would I not? Each year, if not each day, is a bonus when we consider the alternative.

On Sunday some of my family came to help me celebrate a couple of days early. It was a wonderful day with lots of food, hugs, well wishes, love and laughter.

Today I look forward to lunch with some friends, and another visit with one of my daughters.

More companionship, more food, and more hugs.

Oh happy day! TYG!

My Angels are Numbered

I haven’t made myself aware of my angels for a long time. I used to be aware on a daily basis, and it was so much fun. Today, my prosperity angel, Ned, (999) appeared right here on my iPad just a few minutes ago, reminding me to once again be alert.

I just reblogged Ned’s story.
