Prayer for Protection

In 1977, while on vacation in Trinidad, I was introduced to Silent Unity, a 24/7 prayer ministry using affirmative prayer to provide others with faith, courage and strength. A delightful old woman named Miss gave me their devotional magazine, Daily Word, to take home. I subscribed to it for many years and have recently been re-introduced to this wonderful organization. The following prayer has been in my possession for over forty years and is within my daily vision. Happy Sunday.

“The light of God surrounds me; The love of God enfolds me; The power of God protects me; The presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is!” James Dillet Freeman (March 20, 1912 – April 9, 2003)

Where Am I From?

On Thursday I picked up a library book, Memories of Heaven, by Dr. Wayne Dyer (one of my favorite authors) and Dee Garnes, who was his assistant at one time. It is a collection of short stories about very young children remembering where they were before they were born. It is a fascinating and easy read.

Many of the related memories are of being with God and choosing the parents they wanted to be born to. Some are of being here for a short time in another life and deciding to leave at an early age, (child deaths). Some related to changing their minds in the womb and not completing their journey, (miscarriages).

Because I have an open mind about so many things it is easy for me to read this book and consider the possibilities of these tiny testimonies. Besides, when my youngest son was just over two years old, he suddenly stated during a nap time, “I died you know, Mommy.”

I had had a miscarriage three years before he was born.

It makes it easy to wonder where am I from? Happy Saturday.

What the Thinkers Think of God

I’m always interested in what others think of God and so it is that I convey the thoughts of some top thinkers today.

The beginning of power is consciously opening our minds to God and being receptive to his presence, his spirit, his voice and his will.  Charles L. Allen

To know God is to live.  Leo Tolstoy

Never measure God’s unlimited power by your limited expectations. (Our Daily Bread Magazine 2010)

I want to know God’s thoughts; the rest are details.  — Albert Einstein
People see God every day, they just don’t recognize him.  Pearl Bailey
“I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how a man could look up into the heavens and say there is no God.”  Abraham Lincoln
I’ll leave it at that and perhaps visit this subject another time.

Armchair Golfer

I guess you could call me an armchair golfer; if I don’t feel like going out I’ll stay at home and putter or maybe iron a tee.

If I need some greens I’ll call a driver to take me out because it’s a fair way to the store.

Sometimes I like to walk in the woods, but I also enjoy going to a ball and a chance to bogey…(or is it boogie?)

Of course I love the birdies and often feel on par with them when I feel like soaring like an eagle.

My armchair golf shoes are worn out; there’s even a hole in one.

Am I handicapped being an armchair golfer? If you think so, please call fore! before you rough me up, take a swing at me, or cart me off for trying to know the game before I know the score.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;” 2 Timothy 4:7 Happy Sunday.

PS: God does have a sense of humor. ‘He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8: 21

Out of the Ordinary

There are so many things on the face of this earth that are unexplainable, unbelievable, and out of the ordinary. I love when I stumble on one of them like this beauty. This is the caption that accompanied it: Can you believe how beautiful this bird is – God does good work!!! If God cares this much about a bird, can you only imagine how much he loves us. Just look at those colors! Happy Saturday.

.CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS BIRD IS - GOD DOES GOOD WORK !!! IF GOD CARES THIS MUCH ABOUT A BIRD, CAN YOU ONLY IMAGINE HOW MUCH HE LOVES US.

Living Proof

There are so many arguments about God and science, the premise being that science can be proved and God cannot. This brings me to the conclusion that God is the ultimate Scientist and we are the proof.

It reminds me of that old saying, ‘the proof is in the pudding’. This is said to mean the proof of the pudding is in the eating which is also said to mean that you can only judge the quality of something after you have tried, used or experienced it. (Internet May 27, 2020)

I choose to believe I am a child of God rather than a tadpole and that the ultimate Scientist taught earthly scientists everything they know.

A neurosurgeon once stated that the brain is the artwork of God.

Take Stephen Hawking, renowned scientist who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) in 1963 at the age of 21. Mr. Hawking’s life expectancy at that time was two years and yet he was seventy-six when he died in 2018.

Hawking once wrote that achieving a theory of everything would be the ultimate triumph of human reason…for then we should know the mind of God. (A Brief History of Time).

A self proclaimed Atheist, Stephen Hawking, to my mind, was living proof that God is the ultimate scientist.

About God’s Plans

For those of us who believe that God has a plan for our lives, we need only look in the Bible for confirmation:

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. Genesis 1:26

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me…Psalm 138:8

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…Jeremiah 29:11

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. – Proverbs 19:21

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. – Proverbs 16:9

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. – Psalm 32:8

But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” – 2 Corinthians 2:9

The Lord of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand. – Isaiah 14:24

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

And finally: How do you make God laugh? Tell him your plans for the future.  Happy Sunday.

Reassurance

Who of us doesn’t need some reassurance at this time that everything is going to be alright. How many of us need to know that though we may be alone and have to keep a distance between ourselves and all others outside our homes, we have the assurance that we are never really alone. Take heart; as Joshua 1;9 says, Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Happy Sunday.
