A Simple Admonition

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

This is from 2 Chronicles 7:14 where God is talking to Solomon about Israel, and today applies to the world in general. Our lands do need humbling and healing, seeking and praying, and most of all taking heed of a simple admonition. Happy Sunday.

It Hasn’t Happened Yet

A retirement residence is now my new home, of choice. I’m enjoying the change of pace very much. The age range here is from sixty-three to one-hundred and one…a very interesting group of folks.

Due to Covid, we are masked except when in the dining room for meals. We also try to keep the social distancing rule. But you know what…there is much loneliness among the residents. Painful backs, knees, shoulders, among other ailments make it difficult for some to get around without the aid of walkers or wheelchairs.

From experience, I know that hugs are a great remedy for much of the above, and have started giving out a little hug here and there; fully masked with heads turned away, and in all cases, gratefully reciprocated.

There’s an old adage that you can’t do wrong by doing right, but in this case I’m not so sure, and have been expecting to be reprimanded, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Happy Saturday.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Here is a scripture I learned many years ago which came my way again yesterday:

“…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land…” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Again, whether we believe or not, there is always something to think about.

Happy Sunday.

Let Us Pray

Once in awhile we are given the privilege to offer prayer to our congregation. This is one of mine from a few years ago. Happy Sunday.

Let Us Pray

Heavenly Father as we once again come to you in prayer this morning, we ask that you would quiet our minds and grant us the grace to open our hearts to you.

Help us to trust you with our lives and all that concerns us.

When we suffer an illness, help us to recognize healing as a blessing.

If healing is not ours to claim then help us to accept eternal life with you as the ultimate blessing.

We ask that you would make us receptive to the blessings you continually send our way and let us be willing to be a blessing to others.

Lord, help us to remember to pray for those whose needs we don’t always think of…our brothers, sisters, and neighbours all over the world who suffer the anxieties of war, famine, natural disasters and unnatural behaviors; those who call out for help and those who are silent in their misery.

Heavenly Father, help us also to remember that you created us to be in relationship with you, to show our love for you by obeying your greatest command, to Love One Another as you love us.

May we most of all recognize your love as our truest blessing.

We pray for the safety and well being of our pastor, Duncan, and his family. We pray for families and friends of our congregation as a whole, and we pray for those who govern our country and indeed those who govern our world.

Help us to feel the need to pray for the enemy of mankind, those who seek destruction rather than peace. We pray that you would lead them to realize that all life is a blessing. Hear us Father God as we continue to praise and thank you with the words your Son Jesus taught us: Our Father……..

Today’s Blessing

Here is today’s reading from one of my devotionals:

Lord, bless all those today who need healing of any kind. Whether it be physical, emotional, or mental, bless them with your merciful grace and eternal love. Let each one know that they are special in your eyes and that, in the realm of spirit, there is only perfection, wholeness, and joy. Amen

Happy Sunday.

Help My Unbelief

There are people, believers and unbelievers, who have a difficult time understanding and taking to heart the fact that God has a wonderful plan for our lives. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Things crop up in our lives that put restraints on the plans we have made, and that is the time to wonder if maybe God has other plans at this particular time. I choose to believe this is the case and believe that His plans are far superior to mine, whether they seem for my own good or not.

Mark tells a story of Jesus healing a boy with an “evil spirit” after the boy’s father asks Him to “help my unbelief”.

Shall we also say, “I do believe; help be overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24

A Prayer for Pain

So many people I know are suffering from severe physical pain which is depriving them of the quality of life they are meant to have.

Will you please join me in a prayer for pain for all people who are afflicted.

Our Father in Heaven, we pray for your healing love to touch all who are suffering debilitating pain in different parts of their bodies. We thank you that as you hear our prayers, you will touch each one with your healing power and set them free from back pain, neck pain, knee pain…any pain that is limiting your people in their daily activities. We thank you for hearing our prayers and answering them in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thank you to all who will participate in this prayer for pain.
