Responsibility


We are responsible for our lives but there comes a time when we are overwhelmed by the responsibility that has been thrust upon us. We fear we are not doing enough in a given situation or we fear we are not doing the right thing. But God has an answer to our fears:

With faith, let us recognize God’s responsibility to handle what we can’t. Happy Sunday.

Let Us Pray


Once in awhile we are given the privilege to offer prayer to our congregation. This is one of mine from a few years ago. Happy Sunday.

Let Us Pray

Heavenly Father as we once again come to you in prayer this morning, we ask that you would quiet our minds and grant us the grace to open our hearts to you.

Help us to trust you with our lives and all that concerns us.

When we suffer an illness, help us to recognize healing as a blessing.

If healing is not ours to claim then help us to accept eternal life with you as the ultimate blessing.

We ask that you would make us receptive to the blessings you continually send our way and let us be willing to be a blessing to others.

Lord, help us to remember to pray for those whose needs we don’t always think of…our brothers, sisters, and neighbours all over the world who suffer the anxieties of war, famine, natural disasters and unnatural behaviors; those who call out for help and those who are silent in their misery.

Heavenly Father, help us also to remember that you created us to be in relationship with you, to show our love for you by obeying your greatest command, to Love One Another as you love us.

May we most of all recognize your love as our truest blessing.

We pray for the safety and well being of our pastor, Duncan, and his family. We pray for families and friends of our congregation as a whole, and we pray for those who govern our country and indeed those who govern our world.

Help us to feel the need to pray for the enemy of mankind, those who seek destruction rather than peace. We pray that you would lead them to realize that all life is a blessing. Hear us Father God as we continue to praise and thank you with the words your Son Jesus taught us: Our Father……..

Good News and Bad News


This month, November, one of my dear friends of many years lost her sister at age fifty-nine.

In September of this year this same friend’s mother died.

In November of 2019, less than a year before her mother, her father was the first of the family to go to heaven.

That’s the bad news. (Not that they went to heaven but that they died.)

The good news is that Anna’s complete faith and trust in God is giving her the peace, comfort, strength, and stamina she needs to release her family into His loving arms, when her arms can no longer hold them.

Yes, the bad news is that my friend has lost her parents and only sister, but the good news is she has not lost her trust. Amen.

Open to Trust


Look at this picture. How do these little ones know that what Mama Robin is holding in her beak is something they should be holding their mouths wide open for? That’s trust.

Bird Watching Can Be A Fun Hobby For People Of All Ages.

Everyone on Planet Earth could have known it at one time … may we own the opportunity to be open to trust once again. Happy Saturday.

Extraordinary Times

A Sunday Prayer


Breathe on us breath of God as we welcome your Holy Spirit into our hearts.

Make us aware that talking about you is not the same as talking to you. Help us to do both.

Help us to overcome the obstacles that prevent us from enjoying a relationship with you.

Help us to trust you with the problems we face and the decisions we make.

When we are depressed and anxious help us to feel your love, peace, and presence.

When we lose our sense of compassion, remind us of your compassion for us.

Make us humble enough to know that without you we are incomplete.

Remind us to pray for one another that you would replace our grief with peace, our sickness with healing, our poverty with prosperity, and our self centeredness with thoughts of others.

Grant us the grace to live this day in your strength. Amen.

He Will Hold You Up


This photo of my newest great-grandchild and her father spelled trust to me the moment I looked at it. It reminded me of Isaiah 41:10…“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

From the time of your birth to life’s final day, He will hold you up. Happy Sunday.

But Do We?


“In God We Trust” appears on most if not all American currency. But do we?

Trusting God completely means having faith that he knows what is best for our lives. But do we?

Surrendering to him brings freedom not bondage. But do we?

These are not just mere words but a way of life.

We all have choices.  It is good to trust and surrender completely.

We all have freedom to make the right choices. But do we?

Complete Trust


Is there anything more comforting in this world than to be able to trust completely?

I am starting out my brand new year once again placing complete trust in God because I know that I can trust him with my life and all its happenings. I sometimes get excited waiting to see what He has in store for me next.

When we trust in the Lord completely it is not difficult to get excited about what He does in our lives. I have often said to Him, “Lord, I hope you know what you are doing in this situation because I sure don’t.” And lo and behold, the perfect solution is manifested in ways that I never would have expected…or sometimes, even chosen.

The Bible on Power


Power is a powerful word…the very sound of it can sometimes evoke the feeling. Here are a few of many scriptures that give meaning to the word.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…Ephesians 3:16

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
