A New Sound of Music

Every once in awhile something comes along to give us goose bumps, teary eyes, and gratitude for the awesome talents shared with us by others. Here is a clip from Facebook that I watch numerous times, and it never ceases to amaze me just how much God has blessed some people with incredible musicality. Pray For Those Who Treat You

Many years ago I began praying for Ambulance, Fire, and Police cars whenever I saw them or heard sirens, either close by or at a distance; well, not actually the vehicles but their occupants, and ultimately the people they were going to rescue.

Last Sunday, our church had as a guest, a representative from the EMS. (Emergency Medical Services) This young man spoke to our children before they went to Children’s Ministry, and then to our congregation. He was articulate, informative and obviously a very caring person.

What struck me the most was that he asked for prayer; prayer for his profession and colleagues. It touched me in a way that made me thankful for the prayers I sent their way, and for further prayers that would now be forthcoming.

What a blessing these men and women are to us on a daily basis, going about their business of saving lives, and encountering sometimes horrific scenarios which often leave them traumatized.

These are people we often take for granted, and now that we know they need our prayers, let us pray for those who treat us.

The Power of a Six-Year-Old

A few days ago I posted “Call on the Power Inherent in You”. It wasn’t among the most popular posts and I wondered why. Perhaps owning our power is a little hard to understand. Perhaps we don’t know how to go about it. Yesterday, I found the following on the internet. It is about a six-year-old little boy using his power to make people smile. Just click on the link and find yourself smiling and crying at the same time. God bless his little self! https://www.facebook.com/doc.hallenstein/videos/10206458106986026/

Sunday Event

A couple of weeks ago the idea of posting short scriptures each Sunday occurred to me. Lo and behold, one of the recent suggestions from Blogging 101 was just that idea with an added bit about why a particular verse is meaningful to me.

Here is today’s feature:

Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother’s breast. From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God. Psalm 22: 9,10

This is a psalm of David, and I love it because it is exactly the way I feel about God. His presence has been with me since day one which leads me to another scripture:

“…you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you…” Isaiah 46: 3,4

Another Sunday event today is a baby shower for Laura, the mother-to-be of my seventh great-grandchild.

Our Daily Bread

Following are some wonderful quotes for every day living. They are from a little booklet, Our Daily Bread, which is available through Discovery House Publishing in one-hundred and fifty countries.

Here, then, are a few nuggets for your living enjoyment.

God has not promised that your life will be easy…indeed, it may not be. But he has promised to sustain you in your struggles and uphold you with his mighty arm. If you trust him, he will empower you to make your way bravely through extraordinary difficulties with faith, hope and love. God will not allow you to be pressed beyond endurance.

Unexpected changes are opportunities in disguise.

God’s love cannot be explained, it can only be experienced.

If God has already told you what to do, you don’t need to ask him again.

God’s commands are given to enhance our lives rather than restrict them.

To multiply your joy, count your blessings.

You don’t need to know where you are going if you let God do the leading.

God uses ordinary people to carry out his extraordinary plan.

In God’s garden of love, you are his forget-me-not.

Each edition of Our Daily Bread is packed with inspirational stories and quotes such as these. I love it!
