At Peace With Your Thoughts

It’s Saturday again and there may be much to do or maybe little. Be at peace with your thoughts.

Here are a couple more quotes from Kahlil Giban:

“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”

“Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair, but manifestations of strength and resolution.”

“You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts.”

(I’m not sure about this last one.)

Happy Saturday.

Inner Peace

Profoundly and powerfully God has created into every human being the potential for inner peace and spirituality. (RHS)

May you experience profound inner peace today. Happy Sunday.

See the Spirit Within (Namaste)

Recognizing God’s Spirit in each other would be a wonderful way of looking beyond appearances and seeing our unity.

“I will put My Spirit within you…” Ezekiel 36:27

“The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you”. This is one of the meanings for the word Namaste, an ancient Sanskrit greeting.

Here is one of my great-granddaughters (four years young in this photo) in the Namaste pose which she enjoys very much. Happy Sunday.

A Full Crop

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…this is the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22

There are days it is evident that this fruit is an integral part of our lives, if not all of it, at least some…other days, not so much. May we experience a full crop today. Happy Sunday.

Go Now In Peace

In response to a blog on March 21st about being afraid, a friend shared that she and her husband carry a copy of Go Now In Peace at all times. We at St. Andrew’s Scarborough often end our services with this lovely piece of music. I have chosen the Ottawa Police Choir for today’s rendition. It makes me think of Jesus, on this Palm Sunday, riding on a donkey to his ultimate death on the Cross a few days later. Peace be with you. Happy Sunday.

Peace Be With You

The Trappist monk Thomas Merton once said, “We cannot be at peace with others because we are not at peace with ourselves, and we cannot be at peace with ourselves because we are not at peace with God”. Peace be with you. Happy Sunday.

Are You Anxious?

There seems to be an abundance of anxiety in our society today, taking away our right to contentment and happiness. Here are a few scriptures to help combat this unfortunate state of mind. I hope they will help to bring you a happy Sunday.

Celebrating Life

Part of my Saturday will be spent at a Celebration of Life ceremony for a long-time friend and member of our congregation…it’s part of life, after all. May your Saturday be spent celebrating life in whatever way brings you peace, joy and happiness. Happy weekend.

This Moment in Time

Stop! Right now, stop what you are doing and be still if only for just a few seconds…give in to the stillness.

In spite of any chaos around you or in you, give in to being still for this moment in time. Try to make this a habit, and eventually, at any time of the day or night while in the moment, a thought will occur about your life, the world, a problem; anything that has been robbing you of peace and serenity, and the brief respite will infuse you with hope, insight, and a new perspective.

Whenever possible, be silent and listen. Notice how these two words use the exact same letters to fulfill each other…be silent and listen.

In this moment in time hear what God says in Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

For now, carry on…the rest of your day is waiting to be lived.
