To Your Self Be True

This is a repeat of a 2015 post because there are some younger people who need to hear it today (maybe some older also).

Act in the way that is true to your intelligence and beliefs.

Remember that no one can rob you of your power unless you allow them to do so.

Stand tall and face indignity with dignity, and indecency with decency.

Look truth in the face and use it to overcome deceit.

Remember the respect you have for yourself and those you love, and let no one rob you of that respect.

Always use your inner strength to walk away from a bad situation, and where possible take someone with you who needs to lean on your strength until they discover their own.

Remember that you are loved dearly by those who matter. Love yourself just as dearly, always.

Something to Crow About

Have you ever talked to a crow and got an answer? A few years ago, a young friend (ten at the time) and I were having a conversation on my veranda when a crow, perched on a high wire, began cawing. Its tirade seemed directed at us and so I shot back, “Oh yeah? C’mon down here and say that!” To our astonishment, the bird flew at us and we dashed into the house.

Crow on guard

I’ve since learned that the crow is a very intelligent bird; for example take this internet clip:

“Crows are extremely adaptive.  They have been seen cracking walnuts by dropping them at a height needed to burst them open.  Now if that doesn’t amaze you, this will.  Crows will also drop walnuts on roads waiting for cars to run them over — and if it doesn’t work the first time, they move the walnut and try again.  These crows also memorize traffic patterns so they know exactly when to drop the nuts, and retrieve the nuts only when the lights are red and the crosswalk sign is on.  A skill most humans have not yet mastered.”

I’d say that is certainly something to crow about.

God’s Prayer to Us

Have you ever thought of a prayer roll reversal? What if God sent a prayer to us? Yesterday, I wondered what God would say to us in a prayer. Here’s what I came up with:

My Earthly People

I have been watching your troubled world for quite some time now and pray that you would take these few suggestions as to how you might turn things around.

Your environment is in big trouble. It is going to take more than demonstrations to set it right. It is going to take all world leaders, not just a few, to acknowledge the problem and make intelligent decisions. It is also going to take the world population as a whole to do their part. I pray that all of you will take the necessary steps to save your planet.

Your love for one another is sadly lacking. This is obvious from the wars, terrorism, senseless killings, starvation and disease that plague your world. People who love each other do not tolerate this behavior, and, once again, would make intelligent decisions to rectify these situations. I pray that you would do all in your power (and mine) to recognize and eradicate such behavior.

Your daily lives are sadly lacking in love and respect, not only for each other, but for yourselves. You have been taught love from the moment of birth and somewhere along life’s path have either abandoned, forgotten, or ignored this love…not in all cases, but in many. Husbands and wives break their vows, parents pit children against one another, children come to believe that life is all about them, governments forget that they are elected for the betterment of the people, not the detriment.

You are my people and I want only the very best for you. I gave you free will, hoping you would use it wisely. Some of you have willingly and lovingly accepted me; others have deliberately denied my very existence.

It is my prayer that you will open your minds and hearts, and use your intelligence as intended.

You are my children and I love you dearly. Please hear my prayer.

Your Heavenly Father.

intelligence vs Intelligence

No, that’s not a typo in the title. I once wrote about a ninety-year old gent who likes to study logic. Well, this word, intelligence, keeps popping into my mind and makes me wonder just what is it…or what defines it?

Do I have the answer? No. But what I do know is that Intelligence supersedes intelligence. An i.q. test is said to measure one’s intelligence. An extended education obviously increases one’s intelligence. But, (in my opinion) Supernatural Intelligence is the source of both of these. Supernatural Intelligence brought the cosmos, and along with it, our world into existence. And, so, here are you and I.

We are all born with a certain degree of intelligence…some more, some less; and whether or not we have nurtured it by the above means dictates to what degree our i.q. measures.  I am on the lesser end of the scale, having been a high school drop-out with no desire to pursue higher education. Many members of my family have BA’s, MA’s and even PHD’s, for heaven’s sake; very intelligent people. That said, I have successfully managed to raise a fine family, own a business, and publish a book. How? By calling upon that Higher Intelligence, that Supernatural Intelligence which has always been, for me, only a prayer away.

“Don’t let your intelligence get in the way of intelligence” translates into “don’t let your intelligence get in the way of Intelligence.”

Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is what is proper, pleasing, and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NSV)

..”continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds…” It’s such an intelligent thing to do.

To Your Self Be True

In 2003, for whatever reason (memory fails me), I wrote the following for someone special in my life.

To Your Own Self Be True

Act in the way that is true to your own intelligence and beliefs.

Remember that no one can rob you of your own power unless you allow them to do so.

Stand tall and face indignity with dignity, and indecency with decency.

Look truth in the face and use it to overcome deceit.

Remember the respect you have for yourself and those you love, and let no one rob you of that respect.

Always use your inner strength to walk away from a bad situation, and where possible, take someone with you who needs to lean on your strength until they discover their own. The life you save may be your own or that of a friend.

Remember that you are loved dearly by those who matter. Love yourself just as dearly, always.
